And a very good evening to you, and while we come to think about it um, today is one of the last of the pagan traditions, that's carried on into the twentieth century. It's a day for sowing the wild seeds, in fact, now they call it St. Valentine's day. So Happy St. Valentine's day. In fact, I think we should dedicate this whole show to St. Valentine. He's done us a lot of good, even when he hasn't got a day. Well, we're gonna do some things for the benefit of MR. Kite. We're gonna do some things from the last six and a half years of our existence. We're gonna cut, we intend to ah, we intend to cut ah, take a knife and cut right through the glorious ice cream of Led Zeppelin, and give you a little bit of vanilla, little bit of chocolate, a little bot of color, a little bit of everything, and maybe a few changes too for the benefit of one or two people who've been before. Right, this is

the first one of the things. It's not too old, not too new.

ah We came here in a state of ah, Jimmy managed to get to sleep at three o'clock this afternoon, and he was up again at four thirty. So we didn't really know whether we had the strength to walk on the stage, but we have, and it's feeling good. We were , we spent a few hours with St. Valentine last night, you see? Now along with the material that you're familiar with already, we'd like to play you some of the stuff from Physical Grafitti, an LP which ah, an LP which is, as usual, later. This is one of the tracks. It's a traditional thing that you might have heard from, I think Bob Dylan did it about ten years ago, before that ah, Billy Cotton. Here we go.

Before: Since I've Been Loving You
Whoa. Now we, before we ah, before we ventured into this very cold land, about two weeks ago, shhh, do you mind? We hadn't done a lot of work for a long time. In fact, we had gotten a record label together and a few other things, and we, there's a lot of numbers that we haven't done for such a long time that we've nearly forgotten them, but there's a few people that we see here night after night, and , and so, for those people we're gonna play you something, and who knows what it's gonna sound like? But it's somehting that we really used to dig playing, but the set got to be so long that we found ourselves at eh garden the other night, we played for three hours fifteen minutes. You know that, don't you? So this is a track called Since I've Been Loving You.

Well that's the first time in twenty month. I think that was great. We could be here all night going through numbers we haven't played for years, but it, but somewhere in deepest New York, St. Valentine awaits us. Anyway, as this is our last night in New York, we do it every night man, forget about just one night. ah We intend to, despite our depleted physical forms we intend to shake this building, and as you're quite aware, we can't shake this building by ourselves. You are part of the equation, right? So we start the tremors with a song that means quite a lot. It's called The Song Remains the Same.

It truly is the springtime of our loving, everyday. um Thank you very much for that rapturous ah, response although I agree it is a beautiful song. Whoa. He's so flash, that guy. Right, this is um, this is one that the regulars , who come here every night, know quite well, but you still get to hear the recorded version ah, which, as we said, will take a litlle time. This is a track, once again about ah, this is a track once again about um, ah, obsession, or life's obsession with the journey that never ends. This time in Kashmir.

Thank you very much. That sounds a bit too full, doesn't it? Thanks. ah The shows running a bit late tonight, that was Johnny Burnett, and his Rock and Roll trio. ah This is another track about, we're going through our whole live history here, just flashing on different numbers. This is another track about yet another journey that um, so many of them, aren't there? You've just got to close your eyes. This track features the impeccable, one of the world's best dressed men, who didn't make women's wear daily, but there's still time, John Paul Jones, and No Quarter.

John Bonham, high hat, and ah, for those people who we must cater for, this is a track that would especially interest people in the motor trade. ah It's a car song. It's a song about cars, and cars can be related to, as you probably know, the human body insongs, you know? All that thumping the pistons, and all that sort of thing, which makes life that much better ah, so this is a song about the very same. It's called Trampled Underfoot.

Well, as the colorist goes, I can't stop talking about, I can't stop talking about, I can't stop thinking about. Well, said Arthur, what can you do? I can think. I can look at John Bonham, and I can announce that we now present, probably one of the most outrageous precussionists, in what could possibly be considered, roughly, a business, although it never works like a business. Ladies and gentlemen, straight from Saddle Row. The man with only two cavities. John Bonham.

That man there. John Bonham. Moby Dick, John Bonham. The city gem from Worsescter England, John Bonham. Imagine. This ah, next song is something that was part of the, what you might call, the initial embryonic state of the band, a long time ago. It was one of those things that we got together and played, and went, Gosh, Oooo. We'd like to dedicate it to all the people who've been good to us in New York. All you people, we done six gigs here. It's a lot of gigs, and we've seen a lot of people, and we've had a lot of good receptions. We'd also like to dedicate it to the people who've helped us even closer to home, and they know who they are, and here it comes.

Dazed and Confused. Jimmy Page guitar. Nice one. It would be criminal to forget that John Paul Jones and John Bonham were creating so many tone patterns behind that, behind Jimmy's guitar. Too much. Hang on, who's doing the gig, you or us? Both of us, right. Tangerine, tangerine. Measuring a summer's day. I've forgotten the words. This is a song that supercedes ah, this is a rubber band. This is a song that supercedes our wildest dreams, as far as creating something for you ears, and for your pleasure.
