From 1965 until 2004 the John F. Kennedy Pavilion/ Charlotte Y. Martin Centre was the home of the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team (since 2004 the team has played at the new McCarthey Athletic Center). Today, the venue plays host to the women's volleyball team and other events.

The building was renamed the Charlotte Y. Martin Centre on March 17, 1987 after a major renovation and doubling in size.The arena was affectionately known as 'The Kennel' for their rabid basketball fans.
